It was trying to do a torpedo run on one of my team's BB and unfortunately for him, I was right behind that BB and the hail of gunfire coming from my Cleveland removed 3/4 of its health and set it on fire with multiple modules broken. A team mate sent in chat that it is bad luck for me to be in that battle and I joked back and told them I honestly joined by mistake.īy pure luck, I had hydro equipped instead of defensive fire and my first encounter was with an enemy DD. So there I was, in a Cleveland with no signals, camo or premium consumables, and in a Random Battle which there are no carriers. While completing the "Taste for Blood" event, the one which gives you a free Vampire DD, I accidentally clicked on the "continue" button on the event and it put me into a Random Battle. I usually do very well in a Cleveland when playing Scenarios. Its fast firing guns allow you to engage multiple targets and set them on fire, and there are always lots of planes in Scenarios so the Cleveland becomes a one ship no-fly zone. I play mostly co-op and Scenarios and love the Cleveland. I’m rarely just running a straight line unless I’m clear of enemy ships.
I swing the bow guns into position, fire and swing the stern around and fire. Thebiggest thing I learned was I rarely get all 12 guns on target. I’d cl get inside 10 km I hit the with AP. I’ll hit cruisers too if BB are out of range. Mostly look for BBS that slip into range and start fires while the BBs I’m escorting hammer them. Now I provide AA for bbs and engage with HE at extreme range. When i I first got the Cleveland I ran to the front like a bot battle and got smoked. we won the game with me first or second 78k dmg 2ship kills and 25 planes shot down the t5 Texas player thanked me for breaking up the aerial attack on his ship. Its unfortunate that so many players choose to stay broadside and make ship stats irrelevant.PS. kiting,angling and throttle adjustments and sufficient distance can make this a BB killer not to mention a great dd hunter. Cleveland is a fantastic ship, had a game yesterday where I shot down 25 t7 carrier planes ( I was defending our t5/t6 vulnerable BB's.) I disagree that they are easy to delete! played right they are formidable fire starters.
