You can also climb past the orcs or elves to avoid a “game over”, because as soon as you are above them, they can no longer get to you. The guards aren’t the brightest and quickly forget you once they’ve caught your eye. Here you are invisible to the guards and villains in the shadows, some designated highlighted areas under tables or behind large objects, and thus crawl through the levels. When it comes to sneaking, there are even far fewer options. Slowly and sluggishly you shimmy your way over to the other end, only to repeat the whole thing again afterwards. Gollum hangs here, like a gulp of water on a curve. This is discussed between the two personalities in a carelessly designed window with white standard writing and you have to convince the other of your choice with the very obviously target-oriented arguments. During the in-game story, we can experience these conflicts first-hand as we make a choice. There is an internal conflict between Sméagol and his alter ego Gollum, and overall he is a deeply misunderstood creature. While I was actually looking forward to the journey of the twisted, devious hobbit, I can only give The Lord of the Rings: Gollum a single star of propriety after a frustrating journey through the dungeons of Middle-earth. You are looking for variety, excitement and a well-rounded gaming experience in this game as desperately as Gollum is looking for his treasure.

However, the title focuses less on providing you with a complex story, but instead offers mediocre gameplay and a creepy performance at best.
